Mice

Spring 2011

Mice are being reported in increasing numbers across many NSW agricultural areas.

Recent seasonal conditions and a large carry-over population from autumn have provided ideal conditions for mice to proliferate.

LHPA rangers can assist landholders with advice on appropriate control measures for their situation. Rangers can prepare bait for use as perimeter bait around crops if certain conditions are met,  bait for use around sheds and other buildings, and also advise and instruct on 'bait card' techniques and assist with designing of bait stations for on-farm situations.

LHPAs are not providers of broadacre baits, these are available from rural merchandisers.

It’s important that landholders monitor mice populations and take appropriate measures before they cause irreversible damage to crops, machinery and other infrastructure.

Landholders can contact their local LHPA office for assistance.
