Submit your 2011 Land and Stock Return now

28 Jun 2011

As 2011 Land and Stock Returns start hitting mailboxes this week, the Livestock Health and Pest Authorities are encouraging landholders to make use of the online lodgement option for their annual return.

The online lodgement option was introduced last year and approximately 16 000 landholders across NSW chose to utilise it.

Central West LHPA general manager, Narelle Rodway says she is hoping to see even more landholders submit their annual return online this year.

"The online form asks the same questions as the paper-based form and only takes a few minutes to complete – all you need is a computer and access to the internet," Ms Rodway said.

"This year, you can also update your holding and occupier details online.

"All LHPA ratepayers will receive a paper-based form which shows their Holding reference number and online password needed to login to submit online."

Ms Rodway says it is important landholders complete their annual Land and Stock Return, as they provide valuable information to the LHPAs.

"The property information you give us in the Land and Stock Return helps build a state-wide biosecurity picture about agricultural usage and livestock numbers," she said.

"Along with the stock identification and traceability systems we manage, this information is invaluable in the event of an emergency disease outbreak.

"Locally, the property information you give us in the Land and Stock Return is used by the authority to ensure we strike the right balance with our livestock health programs.

"We’d also like to remind all our ratepayers that they are required to submit a Land and Stock Return, even if they do not have stock. Failure to lodge a Land and Stock Return will mean you are automatically charged an animal health rate and meat industry levy in next year’s rates."

The due date for submission of Land and Stock Returns is 31 August.
