State Management Council director appointments
The Livestock Health and Pest Authorities are calling for people with suitable skills to apply to fill two independent appointed director positions on the State Management Council (State Council).
The selection of new State Council members will mark the final step in the reform process for the Livestock Health and Pest Authorities that commenced at the start of this year following the IMC review.
As the governing body of the Livestock Health and Pest Authorities, the State Councils focus is on organisational strategy and policy, governance, public relations, education, compliance and the delivery of services to the authorities.
Livestock Health and Pest Authorities State Policy Council chairman, Lawrie Donoghue said the organisation is looking for people who have expertise, experience or qualifications in one or more of the following areas:
- Financial management
- Corporate governance
- Agricultural production including but not limited to:

- Livestock health
- Grazing management
- Pest animal and pest insect management
- Public relations and stakeholder engagement
- Business
- Law
- Information technology
- Issues in NSW related to the functions of LHPAs
- Strategic planning and risk management
"This is an opportunity for members of the community who have relevant skills to be involved in setting and monitoring the strategic direction of the State Council and the organisation collectively," Mr Donoghue said.
"The successful candidates will be selected by the State Policy Council on a merit based system and will join seven other directors - six of whom will be current LHPA directors, and one will be appointed by the Minister for Primary Industries."
Successful applicants will be appointed through to 31 October 2013. Expressions of interest must be submitted to the Chairman, State Council Selection Panel, Locked Bag 21, Orange NSW 2800.
