Register now for pest field day
Landholders looking for assistance and advice on controlling pest animals on their properties will benefit from attending the upcoming Vertebrate Pest Field Day near Bungonia.
To be held on Wednesday 9 December, the field day will provide landholders with practical information on control methods for a range of pests including rabbits, pigs, foxes and wild dogs, as well as related animal health and disease issues.
Senior ranger for the Tablelands Livestock Health and Pest Authority, Mark McGaw says the field day is a great opportunity for landholders to learn more about pest control options and their legal rights and obligations.
"This event will be an informative day for any landholders who have pest animal problems," Mr McGaw said.
"Under the Rural Lands Protection Act all landholders in NSW have an obligation to control declared pest species on their land, and this field day will provide a wealth of information on the most effective and efficient ways to do that."
Topics to be covered include:
- Rabbit control – poisoning, ripping burrows, blowing burrows etc
- Pig control – poisoning, trapping
- Fox and wild dog control – latest technology, poisoning, trapping
- Woody weed control options – eradication of pest habitat
- Livestock health and disease issues
The field day will be held at “Hillydale”, Inverary Road, Bungonia from 9.30am to 3.30pm (directions will be provided on registration). The cost is $10 per head, which includes morning tea and lunch.
The event is organised by the Tablelands LHPA, Industry & Investment NSW, the Hawkesbury Nepean CMA and the Goulburn Mulwaree Council.
