Register for all inclusive pest control school
The Mid Coast Livestock Health and Pest Authority is encouraging landholders who are interested in up-skilling in rabbit control and wild dog trapping to attend a free school they are holding next week.
The school will be held at Baerami Hall starting at 9am on Wednesday 3 August and running until 3pm on Friday 5 August.
Ross Garland, Mid Coast LHPA ranger, says the authority is keen to get more landholders involved in pest control, and hopes the school will encourage them to do so.
"The aim of the school is to enhance the skills of landholders and other interested people to allow for greater control activities of wild dogs and rabbits," he said.
"There will be several industry professionals presenting at the school who specialise in these fields of pest animal control.
"Landholders may wish to bring their own traps for advice on set-up and maintenance. Firearms or dogs are not permitted at the school under any circumstances.
"These events are not organised regularly, so take the opportunity to up-skill while you can. As an extra incentive all costs, including accommodation, material and food are covered.
"We will also be holding a 1080 and Pindone accreditation training course on the evening of Thursday 4 August if numbers warrant. The cost of the course is $44 per person."
An itinerary will be forwarded to all participants along with other details, such as directions to the sites, as soon as numbers are finalised.
The event is being funded jointly by the Mid Coast LHPA and the Australian Government’s Caring for our Country program.
