Mob up for sheep health and production seminar
Tablelands sheep producers are encouraged to attend an upcoming sheep health and production seminar on Thursday 17 November to hear the latest on topical sheep issues.
The seminar is being jointly held by the Tablelands Livestock Health and Pest Authority and the Australian Society of Animal Production (ASAP) at the Bathurst RSL, 114 Rankin Street, and starts at 10am.
Bruce Watt, Tablelands LHPA senior district vet based in Bathurst, says the seminar is a great opportunity for local sheep producers to hear the latest results from local sheep research projects.
"Speakers from the NSW Department of Primary Industries and the Tablelands LHPA will be presenting the results of research and trials conducted on flocks from the tablelands, so it will have a strong local focus," said Dr Watt.
"For example, attendees will hear about which drenches are best suited to the local area, performance of various sheep enterprises now and in an uncertain future, joining ewes as lambs, the value of new lamb and wool genetics and the importance of trace minerals on the tablelands, just to name a few.
"From north of the border, Richard Clark, Queensland Government, Primary Industries and Fisheries, will speak about enhancing financial return through innovation and continuous improvement.
"There will also be a panel question and answer session following the speakers program, where participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the speakers."
The seminar runs from 10 am to approximately 3 pm and a full program can be obtained from the Bathurst office of the Tablelands LHPA by phoning 6331 1377.
For catering purposes please RSVP by Monday 14 November to the Tablelands LHPA Bathurst office on 6331 1377. Morning tea and lunch are provided.
