LHPA vet adds to local skills

03 Aug 2011

The North West Livestock Health and Pest Authority congratulates Warialda based district vet, Ted Irwin, on his recent achievement gaining membership of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists.

According to the North West LHPA senior district vet, Shaun Slattery, the accolade is well respected within the veterinary profession.

"Ted recently passed his exam in beef cattle medicine which allows him to be a member of the college," he said.

"Membership of the college indicates that the member has a high level of interest and competence in the nominated field."

Dr Slattery said the achievement increases the level of expertise available to ratepayers within the North West.

"The North West LHPA recognises our main asset is our staff who are working with producers to meet their biosecurity needs. As such, we are constantly looking to improve the skills of our staff so that they can better meet our ratepayers’ needs," said Dr Slattery.

"This also ensures we are better placed to respond to ratepayer requirements into the future."

Dr Irwin is also on the committee for the Australian Veterinary Association’s NSW division.
