Cumnock and Wellington 1080 and Pindone courses

09 Jun 2011

The Central West Livestock Health and Pest Authority is encouraging landholders in the Cumnock and Wellington area to register for upcoming 1080 and Pindone users training courses, which will allow them to legally use 1080 and Pindone baits on their properties.

Central West LHPA ranger, Scott Sullivan says the authority will be conducting two training courses in June.

"The first will be held in Cumnock on Wednesday the 15th June and the second in Wellington on Friday the 17th of June," he said.

"The courses will start at 9am and run for approximately four hours. Participants will be provided with morning tea.

"There are clear benefits for landholders in completing the short course. Any landholder who wants to use 1080 or Pindone baits to control pest animals and does not have a current AQF3 certificate should attend the course, as it will allow them to use these bait products on their properties.

"With current lamb and mutton prices, landholders could potentially save thousands of dollars by carrying out an effective fox control program using 1080 baits."

The course costs $44. Those completing the training course will be issued a certification card and will remain accredited to use 1080 and Pindone for five years.

To register your interest in attending a training course in Cumnock or Wellington contact Scott Sullivan on 6366 8505, 0428 710 001 or scott.sullivan@lhpa.org.au.
