Beef field day in Crookwell
A wealth of information will be available for beef producers in the Tablelands Livestock Health and Pest Authority at the upcoming Beef Field Day in Crookwell.
To be held this Friday 2 October, the expo will provide beef producers with a range of practical information on cattle nutrition, biosecurity, livestock health and the National Livestock Identification System (NLIS).
Jim McDonald, district vet with the Tablelands LHPA, says the field day is a great opportunity for beef producers to gather information specific to their enterprise.
"Throughout the day there will be speakers addressing a range of topics tailored to both small and large scale beef producers in this region," Mr McDonald said.
"It's a great chance for cattle producers to get information on key issues affecting their business, and to find out whats new in the beef industry."
Topics to be covered include:
- cattle parasites and other livestock health issues
- biosecurity measures on farm
- nutrition for cows and calves
- condition scoring cattle
- marketing options
- water budgeting
- NLIS and NVDs.
Local cattle studs will also be present at the field day with displays on a range of breeds, as well as other commercial stalls.
The field day will be held at the Crookwell showground from 9.30am to 3pm. The cost is $10 per head, which includes morning tea and lunch.
The event is organised by the Tablelands LHPA in partnership with I&I NSW.
