Brands and earmarks

These include:

• stock brands (symbol and Board brands) for use on cattle and horses
• earmarks for use on large and small stock
• sheep brands
• ear tattoos
• swine brands
  

State Council's Stock Identification Scheme

This scheme commenced on 1 January 2006 and covers brands and earmarks for stock.

It was adopted to make available to stockowners and others schemes of stock identification. In addition to their sustained use as a means of identifying stock, such schemes provide evidence of stock ownership, may act as a deterrent against stock theft.
